Darton State College Foundation Giving Options
Giving Options
Friends of Darton College can support its educational, cultural and community programs in many ways.
The Darton Foundation gratefully accepts gifts and contributions that can be allocated across a wide variety of interests. As the donor desires, the gift may be passed on immediately to benefit a student or an area of the college, or it may be placed in an endowment to work in perpetuity for the purpose the donor desires.
Donors often want to establish a named endowment in honor of their family or place of business. Regular endowments may be started with a first gift of $5,000. In cases where the initial investment is less than $5,000, personal endowments may be created over time with a minimum annual gift of $500. As a part of the personalized endowment process, donors may direct the annual proceeds to a need of the college that best fits their own personal interest.
Relatives and friends often remember loved ones with contributions to memorial funds. This is particularly appropriate for those who have been associated with the college, its alumni association or its foundation. This is a wonderful way to bestow a lasting legacy to a loved one and support the economic growth of southwest Georgia.
A special gift may be made to the Foundation to commemorate a special event in one's life or the life of another. This act of giving is an extremely thoughtful way of noting a special occasion and remembering the needs of the college.
All of the foundation's special events and campaigns provide individual and corporate sponsorship opportunities. Each sponsorship offers a variety of ways underwriters and donors can be recognized.
Estate gifts provide an excellent opportunity for people to remember the college. Donors can take advantage of various estate-planning opportunities ranging from bequests to life-income gifts.
Each year, the Foundation solicits auction items from local businesses and individuals. Many times these items will be resold at double their retail value, providing a healthy contribution to scholarships and programming at Darton.

Planned giving -- or charitable gift planning -- refers to the process of making a charitable gift of estate assets to one or more nonprofit organizations, a gift that requires consideration and planning in light of the donor's overall estate plan.
Such gifts usually include legal documents and often require the assistance of a qualified professional advisor to complete. Because of the size and potential impact of such gifts, a donor should consult with a tax professional or financial advisor before completing the process.
